Anybody as excited as me to see this?! I loved the first two. I only imagine it will be the same with this.

I didn't really like the first one or what I saw of it. So he has no memory and hes trying to get it back or something?

Yup, he has amnesia and is gradually remembering who he is and why he was where in Europe in the first place. We have gradually found out why in the first two films. A big part of the new one will take place back in the states. New York City to be exact.

I hear the chase scene in this new one is going to blow us all away. Rumor has it, it took two weeks to film. I can't wait to see this.

Don't much care for these films. I sorta think of them as the Seinfeld of spy movies; spy movies about nothing. Though to be fair, I guess they went that way to make the audience feel more like Bourne, having no idea what's going on and slowly throughout the three movies getting caught up. But still, the visual style of the series is much too mondern day tv for me, shows like 24 and Alias spring to mind. I'm still waiting for some real old school spy thrillers. I'd love to see a period piece cold war spy movie, maybe even shot in black & white.
I did read the first book and thought it was great (couldn't get into the sequels though). I'll see the final movie when it comes to DVD, cause I am mildly curious if how it all comes together is like how it did in the book (all the back story of the Bourne character was solved by the end of the first book, which may be why I didn't like the sequels, just superfulous shallow thrillers).
I don't mean for this to be a thread-crap. Just discussing.

Yes, and I belive a 5th book too, but neither written by Ludlum (he died in 2002). Sort of like all those James Bond novels written by John Gardner and Raymond Benson after Fleming died.

It's alright BeauButabi. Of course it's always a matter of opinion. That's why I started this thread. You don't need to like the Bourne movies to discuss here.

Never saw the first. Never saw the second either due to some of the most embarassingly bad handheld camera uses I have ever witnessed in cinema.
You can't see a damn thing.
When there's a fist fight Bourne throws a punch and then the camera goes topsy turvy for 2 minutes as we watch two blurs on the screen duke it out (or perhaps dancing? I'm not quite sure). When the camera goes back to a semi-stand still we see one body knocked out on the floor.
The same "visual style" is used with the car chases.
The sequel was horrible trite. I expect the second sequel to be just as bad or worse. I'll give it a miss.

The hadnheld camera thing is a preferred style of some directors for 1. either trying to make their audiences dizzy or 2. to attract more attention and action to the already existing action. Not everyone likes to use trypods for every scene of their film FC
But i agree, they weren't exactly the best action movies ever.

Using handheld camera throughout your picture can be a good idea (check out any Sartana by Carnimeo or Castellari's "Keoma") but you have to have some sort of control.
The director of Bourne 2 allows the camera to move around in a way that the audience can't see anything.
Even during a calm dialogue sequence I recall watching the film and thinking if a five year old got ahold of his father's video camera and was allowed to run amock.
Lack of talent and lack of brain cells I say.

I have to highly disagree with some of you. If you loved the new James Bond film than you have The Bourne movies to thank. Clearly they took the realistic approach style of the Bourne films and used it in Bond.
I think these two Bourne films are highly entertaining with great writing. The plot for both films in my opinion were great.
I can see where some of you wouldn't like the hand-held camera style of The Bourne films, especially the second one. I don't mind it though. I think it gives the film a realistic approach. If you were fighting, or driving a car in a high speed chase, crashing into everything, you would get the same look from your point of view for the most part. I think it's cool.

I remember being able to see Casino Royale.
