It's one of my favorites... but to be honest i can't pick ONE Leone film that's the best, cos all the ones i've seen have been great.  OUATIA has a completely different atmosphere to the others (excluding Colossus of Rhodes), so i understand why it would stand out more for some.

Typically all Leone fans prefer his westerns. Once Upon a Time in the West is my favorite but I'm pretty sure there's somebody here who considers this their favorite. I'm guessing our fellow member here noodles_slowstir might be a good guess?

OUATIA is my #3 favorite movie ever just behind GBU/OUATITW tie. Someday it can become my favorite, but not yet. I almost could make a GBU/OUATIA/OUATITW tie. I'm surprised how it is some members' least favorite of Leone's films.

It sounds as though I'm in a minority but without hesitation I much prefer OUATIA to any other Leone film I have seen.  I have viewed OUATITW recently and will be revisiting fistful of dollars etc once I have seen 1900 and read Frayling's book.  For me Leone got to be a better director as he grew older and his epic masterpiece is as good as any film I have seen from any director.

Anybody noticed that there is a parody of OUATITW in the latest Pirates of the Caribbean film?

Yeah we've talked about the Pirates of the Caribbean homage quite a bit here. Some people didn't like the homage, but I loved it. It just shows me that people respect Leone's work.

Anyway, Once Upon a Time in America is a MASTERPIECE. Anybody who considers it his best has a good argument.

This sums it up pretty good for me as well.

another minority member here.....OUATIA is my favorite.  I've come to appreciate all of them.  Last few months I've rewatched all the dollars films.  The only Leone film I saw in a theater environment was OUATITW.  I've decided that I like the last three best.  OUATIA remains my favorite.

Smiley  mal247 got in there first.  I'm with him though.  Like I say I've really come to appreciate all of the films.  Thanks to all the informative people that post here......  It motivated me to check out the older films I hadn't seen in a while or maybe watched on commercial television.  Still need to see COR tho....
