The movie is divided in two: the first half is about the mechanisms by which a gang headed by the Watchmaker steals 200 Kg of federal gold from a fort; the second is how the members of the gang try to get more than their share.
The rhythm is slow and, in the first part, there's not that precision, which is typical of the grisbi movies, by which the rhythm of the illegal operations it becomes the main element of the movie because every move of the various members in the end it fits perfectly  in the whole scheme. Here there is not that precision: many times there's the risk of being discovered and the way the memebers extricate themselves from the danger it appears quite casual. There's also a general impression of artificiality, like the coup could have been made in a simpler way. There are also many improbable turns of the plot  in the second half (an official hiring a gang of mexicans to get the gold and the ridiculous way the gang is disposed of). Still you want to arrive (yawning) to the end. And though there is no sexy girl (the only one around is awful Giorgelli)l to compensate  the boring, you have a piece of score which is sure to enter into your mind. So I give it a generous 6\10.
