It's perfect timing, large one...

Frank is wearing a "Gaucho" style hat.

Then Blondie's hat is Gaucho, too, I'd say. Which is funny, because when I was trying to find similar ponchos as his, I found them on pictures of some Chilean gauchos...

They aren't the same! The top is different!
That's quite a mysterious hat. :P

You can change the crowns (tops) to any style you like by steam blocking.

You can by slouch hats I have one, it looks like a gangster's  hat the way its blocked and it has a silk ribbon around the crown, but as I was showing Fiercraker and Peacemaker before the Morricone Concert, you can push it down and make it a flat crown and all you would have to do to make it look similar to the MWNN's hat is remove the silk and add a brown leather dog collar in its place..

We have a picture of one that somebody did this too on the board.

found it:

The brim just looks a tad bit short maybe another !/2 inch or inch

Ah yes, I remember that one! Really a bit short brim, but it looks good anyway.

So, generally speaking, the top doesn't affect the type that much, because it can be changed?

I purchased a hat that's almost exactly like the gaucho for my future western.

It's black and has the flat brim, but the front of the crown is a bit higher than the back.

And anyway, it would look better if it wasn't so clean... a bit of holes and dust would make it more similar. ;D

Good point Marmota. If I ever buy that style of hat, the first thing I will do
will be to toss it on the ground and repeatedly step on it until it slowly
evolves into a "true" SW hat. Too bad hats are no longer in vogue, at least
in the N.E. US. I especially like hats on women. They can be soooo sexy.

Right.  Imagine Roseanne in a cowgirl hat sayin' "Ride 'em cowboy, whoa!!"

Sexy right?

Hey Sonny, how'bout you post a photo with you wearing a hat. I am
sure you would do it justice, just so I can get that Roseanne image out of
my mind. ;)
