Where`s that damn fly...!?

« : July 26, 2007, 05:10:12 AM »

In the scene in which Harmonica kills three man at the train station, do you think that he holds his gun outside the holster before duel? If you look at that scene (moment when the camera shows him from behind, and Elam... in the backround, right in the moment when he starts to shoot) it didn`t seam like he draw his gun from the holster, but it`s seams like he holds his gun beside his bag, and when he drops the bag, his gun and hand was instantly free to shoot. Just like he was prepared in advance for a duel, and in that way saves himself a little time so he could be even more quicker. Of course there is no such "prepareing scene" in the film. Maybe it`s just seams to me that way, but what do you think?

The gun is in his hand from the begining ; it is actually hidden by the bag.
You can see it after he is wounded... he stands up, puts the gun back ON the bag and take the bag.

Close up on the [I don't know the word : the big thing that makes the noise during the whole scene], the camera zooms back, very very close up on the eye of harmonica, he sits down (close up on his face and then cut, you see him entierely finishing the move). subjective shot of the harmonica (I think) he sees the dead bodys in front of him, close up on the bag, his boots enter the shot, he puts the gun on the bag and takes the bag.

Their must be a few mistakes but this is not very far from the movie I guess.

Unfortunately, I didn`t have the chance to watch the movie recently and probably because of that I forget these details. Once again, thank you very much.

You're welcome!

Another point is that i'm describing a scene that isn't on every version of the film. Do you own the DVD?

No, I don`t own the DVD yet. I would by it years ago, but I have many great films on VHS (among them 5 Leone`s), so (maybe it`s going to sound stupidly nostalgic), I`m sad to abandon them...  :-\

You don't HAVE to abandon them, but you just have to watch a Leone movie in good conditions once :) so buy the dvds and you'll discover leone :) or wait for the blue ray or HD DVD...

And: what was in Harmonica's bag? A big question! Clothes? No, he wears the same clotches in the whole film...

His reserve of harmonicas, since he has to give one to each guy who was there the hanging day. Don't forget it wasn't so easy to take pictures during parties at this time.

No, Frank's is the last one. If he had been hauling around harmonicas for each of the murderers, he'd have given them all out by now. There's gotta be something else in that bag. . .
