My long-awaited film of 2007 is being released [nationwide] today, and I'll be watching it in just a few hours. Discuss it here.

Anyone seen Little Dieter Needs to Fly? A masterpiece.

Haven't seen it. What's it about?

It's a documentary also direct by Werner Herzog about a POW who managed to escape from camp after months and barely make it out alive. Herzog and the real POW, Dieter Dengler, go back to Vietnam to re-enact his experiences.

Rescue Dawn is the movie version of this.

Prisoner of War.

I liked Little Dieter, but I'm worried that RD will over-Hollywoodize the story. I look forward to reading your reviews.

I hope this comes to Finland, too, but I highly doubt that Lips Sealed. Grizzly Man is on my shopping list. Anyone heard anything of Herzog's Loch Ness -documentary?

Just watched it. Not too Hollywoodized, and not overly artistic enough to turn away the average viewer. All and all, I really like it. The performances were wonderful and Herzog's direction was fantastic (both Oscar-worthy). Not so sure about a Best Picture nomination at this point, though.

9/10.

You realize, don't you, that it's not a real documentary, and it's not directed by Herzog himself (he essentially just acts in it)?
Anyway, it's quite funny.

No, I didn't Lips Sealed. I read an interview some time ago where he clearly states that he is directing a documentary about Loch Ness and the effect that the legend has had on the people living next to the lake or something like that. I'll find the interview and post a link here asap.

I took a gander at the DVD packaging today and was pleasantly surprised to see that an audio commentary is included, one of those nice chats between WH and Norman Hill. I neglected to see the film in a theater, but this DVD now seems highly desirable. An on-line check shows, however, that there is a Blu-ray edition out as well. Which to purchase? Does anyone know if the extras are the same on both discs?
