ford is one of the worst actors i've ever seen... haven't seen a good movie he's ever been in... and that includes star wars and indiana jones

I'm not saying he's good - just that he's always so nice in his films like our 'Enry was beforehand.  Tom Hanks would be another example, but he's about to be the baddy in The Ladykillers.

Well, Fonda was the bad guy in a few films before OUATITW (not a lot, but a few), so that's not really a drawback in re Hanks.  Besides, "The Ladykillers" is a comedy, so there's no real comparison.

And Chum: if you didn't like the Indiana Jones movies you're just an old grouch. Tongue

You know I just posted this in an above thread, but Clint would have made a shock as Frank especially among Spag fans, it would almost have had the same effect.

And it would be in keeping with Leone's way of thinking.

Jimmy Stewart or Charleton Heston may have made good "surprise" castings for Frank.

Yeah, I totally agree with the Charlton Heston casting.

Two more ideas I wanna throw out there.

John Diehl - he's definitely got Henry Fonda's eyes, but I think he'd be better as Cheyenne personally.  Just watched him in the TXF episode "Trevor", he was magnificent.  (Of course, that ep has sentimental value to me, as it was the first I saw of "The X-Files" Grin)

Armin Mueller-Stahl as Morton?  He's got the talent to pull it off, and he's got the "arrogant-yet-sympathetic villain" angle down pat.  I know he has a very strong German accent, but a) I like his voice a lot, very distinctive, and b) the guy who dubbed Ferzetti for OUATITW sounded French anyway (to me at least).  I think he would do a great job with the "weapons" speech in particular.  Thoughts?

Harmonica-Definitly Benicio Del Toro

Jill-Nicole Kidman? She could really pull it off I think...

Cheyenne-I would see Jeff Bridges (as he was in The Big Lebowski)

Frank-Hanks is a good choice, Eastwood better. Maybe even Davis Carradine?...his Bill was a Frank-like killer.

Luiz Gusman or Philip Seymour Hoffman would make a good Woobles

Morton-Paul Newman is a great choice. Maybe Eastwood too? Franco Nero?!

And for a The Good, The Bad and the Ugly remake how about :''For three men, the crusades weren't hell...it was practice!''

Frank: Harrison Ford

Hmm. Never seen him as a villain. Could he pull it off?

FRANK

harrison ford as frank??? Shocked Shocked Shocked
christopher walken would have a great face for that charactere, and he's a great actor... James woods would be an interressing choice.
Pierce brosnan, if he had been a good actor, would have been a perfect choice after the james bond movies.
Another possibility is Kevin Costner.
Clint would be great and would bring a lot of meanings... because for everybody, clint is clint... i mean clint IS the man with no name, josey wales, Harry calahan, robert kinkaid, william munny... that would have a very different effect than fonda. Frank would change a lot... so even if it seems very "academic" to choose clint, it would be very dangerous: he is very far from fonda. But i think i would take him if i had to do this remake.

HARMONICA

mmm.... i think we have to look for a native american...
Or benicio del toro, you are right (i can't remember who).

JILL

You're right again (who again?): nicole kidman.

CHEYENNE

Sean Connery would be great; harrison ford would be interesting.
Or micheal madsen... he would bring something of his kill bill character with him... something very nostalgic which is perfectly what we need for the cheyenne.

MORTON

Kevin Spacey. Or the guy who bertrayed neo in the matrix... Or James Woods.

BRETT MAC BAIN

Robert de niro or micheal madsen (?)...

THE THREE DUSTERS

Woody Strode: Samuel Lee Jackson
Jack Elam: micheal madsen
Al Mulloch: quentin tarantino

or:

WS: clint eastwood
JE: james woods
AM: eli wallach

or:

WS: laurence fishburne
JE: Joe pesci, david caradine
AM: anybody with a "strange" face Smiley
