It seems your average film goer loves TGTBATU and consider it Sergio Leone's very best. Not that there is anything wrong with that because the film is brilliant. It seems among all of us for the most part though, we consider his other works to be better.

As Sergio's Films get released on DVD, or upgraded, do you think the popularity of his other films will get the same treatment TGTBATU has had through the years eventually? What I'm trying to say is, in ten years or so for example, will people be talking about Once Upon a Time in the West, or Duck, You Sucker like they've been talking about TGTBATU?

No, I reckon not.

The titles coined a phrase.

The main theme from the score is heard and played seemingly everywhere on T.V and copied often for snippets etc in comparison with the other movies scores, and rightfully so. I mean Ecstacy of Gold, The Trio even The Rope Bridge, Its the best score.

Did I mention it was also the best film.

It's the best film in your opinion. To me it's a classic, no doubt about it, but it's not Leone's Masterpiece. That title goes to OUATITW, again, just my opinion.

I saw the Dollar films back in the sixties first time around .They were unique
in their style and soundtrack. They were not analysed to any great degree at the time but brought a refreshing change to the western genre.Looking back after all these years at the films you can see different elements in the story line which you could not really observe after seeing the film on the big screen.Sergio Leone best work was his westerns in my opinion.
I think they had more depth then was perceived at the time. The interesting thing about these films
was they came and went and wasn't miked to death ( like the Rocky or Die Hard films ) and
in doing so left us wanting more.

No. OUATITW, DYS and OUATIA will always be considered as masterpieces by a limited audience of people who love movies. The dollar trilogy is much easier to like, so I think main audience will always know/like GBU (since it is usually considered as the best dollar film) more than any other leone work, IMO.

("easier to like" doesn't mean that it is better or not as good...)

Another reason why I think TGTBATU will always be the better known of his films was because of the title. It's such a unique title, and one of the most original ever.

What do you mean?

GBU & OUTW are both such great films!
That one director made them both is amazing.

To choose which is best is a joyful decision!

Choosing between the two is like choosing between Claudia Cardinale & Laura Antonelli!!!
