BTW, it's a Russian S&S flick also named is "ILIA MUROMENTS"." TSATD is so far out.  :D mountain of men formed so the evil tugar can get a look at his enemy. 3 headed dragon, some guy riding around w/ many arrows in his body. a wind demon that defys description. circa ' 56, I'm betting NO damn body's seen this masterpiece of S&S mixed w/ X-tremely weird stuff  based on some old Russian icon ilia muroments.

there's a lot of fantacy in leone's S&S film COR. i know i'm a little off topic ( other films / appologys ) :-[

I'll try much harder, in the future, to come up w/ a thread topic worthy of the board. regrets...

in order to truly document and critique any film that is what kind of mood am i in before i first saw GB&U the first time.

I'd never sene any of the 2 dollar films and walked in a Leone virgin during tuco's big blast from corporeal wallace w/ angle eyes intently starring on waiting for the name of the graveyard. what a place to meet Mr. Leone for the first time. i was floored especially when tuco checks for a tooth that wallace had knocked out but he wasn't gonna talk ! that is...
and tuco had the nerve to call Blondie a " traitor " in the  derelict hotel tuco actually bathes in

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULBAVOHCP6g ( TSATD pt. 9 @ 2:35 ) my toolbar WNWwent goofy and i can't cut, copy & paste so I'm stuck in the dark ages which is par for the course w/ me , lol. i'm happy just to BE here.  ;)

at 2:35 you will witness the tugar pile up ! who and how did they come up w/ this visual ?
this reminds me of " 300 " showing the great masses of Persians forget the dragon, lol  :D  evidently ther's some sort of classical record that accompanies the entire movie if you watch and listen.
those Russians were always a step ahead of us when it came to
special effects...especially the giant leading the envoy. the wind demon is a midget
w/ a bad case of unabrow. it looks like a puppets from hell but it's a real guy.

  8)  mike wallace narrates.   ^-^
i mentioned this before. if you just fast forward to the soviet special effects.  :o

This was on video here years back. The box hypes up the "cast of thousands" aspect but reportedly, the shots of thousands of people was accomplished using split screen or something to that effect.

I really like this movie and its director Aleksandr Ptushko is like the Russian counterpart of Sergio Leone, very epic and beautiful looking about old myths.
