Obviously the scene as a whole is a classic, and I'm sure everyone here agrees. The scene I'm talking about is when Manco and Col. Mortimer meet for the first time in the street. What I'm refering too is the actions that take place after Manco steps on Mortimer's boot. Do you not laugh when Manco punches Mortimer in the face after he returns the favor and steps on his boot. Even after I've seen the film countless times, I'm still in shock everytime Manco punches Mortimer.  Grin It just seems out of nowhere and strikes me to be funny.

You would think after Mortimer gets punched that he'd take out his gun and start firing away, but no, they both continue to play like boys and what follows is history. A scene so unique and comical, only Leone could have pulled off.

Poor Mortimer. It's not a nice thing to hit an elder man...  Tongue
But the scene ROCKS. (And Mortimer deserved it. Evil It's not a nice thing to humilitate a poor hunchback who hadn't done anything... also he's not a noble knight...)

Watching the film in class today, that scene got a LOT of laughs from the audience. But the one with the biggest response were the scenes with Klaus Kinski...

So the reactions were in right places (meaning that people didn't think the film was stupid or anything)?

Well a few people laughed at the "boing" sounds whenever Mortimer opened his rifle sheath, etc. Only a few people took part in the post-film discussion, but it didn't seem that there was a negative feeling towards the film.

The "boing" sound seems to amuse many people. And, true: it really is not all that dead serious Cheesy Great that they enjoyed it at least on some level Afro

The "boing" sounds are absolutely fantastic, and unique for that matter. Someone should appreciate something like that.

I thought Mortimer would punch him back when I first saw it.

I believe the boing sound is a Jew's Harp, which is used on the main title.

I love that whole scene but something that I always used to notice is how the hat that is supposed to be Manco's, being shot up in the air, is totally different!
