you guys might enjoy this:

http://www.schnittberichte.com/schnittbericht.php?ID=4208

Here you see the scenes that played longer OR edited differently sometimes with alternate takes.

I watched it once, it played on German TV with that length. That cut isn't doing that masterpiece a favour as the timing is too slow. Two or three scenes improved as I recall, for ex. the three guys waited longer for Harmonica to step out of the train, was more suspensful...

wow, i don't know if that is improving or not the film, but many alternative shots and little details that make many items/locations/situations more understandable... i'd love to see it !

I'm extremely happy with the existing version. What I would like to see though if there's another released down the road is to keep Jill's Theme playing in the end credits. I don't like how they abruptly play Cheyenne's Theme music. I like that music but it wasn't necessary in the credits.

Jill's Theme is supposed to play to the end....sync up the cd with the dvd and you will see.
The idiots at PAramount DIDN'T REALIZE THAT Cheyenne's theme was meant as EXIT MUSIC I.E TO BE played after the film ends.
So, they stupidly cut the music the way it is now.

Oy!

If only the Italian DVD had English subtitles!

Although this thread doesn't address the different endings, it does offer handy descriptions of the Italian scene extentions: http://www.fistful-of-leone.com/forums/index.php?topic=734.0

One edit has always annoyed me when watching OUaTItW is the jump cut when Cheyenne drinks from the bottle. I'm so glad this is rectifiable, even if it hasn't been done yet.

I always found this cut very well done and I couldn't understand why : it SHOULD be a jump cut, and it isn't. You're the first one to criticize it... i think:
1) it is useful (=> close up with the music, it insists on the fact that he hears it and he is wondering what the hell is happening)
2) people don't notice it exept The Clint.
