Do we know how the Master found Eli? I heard how he found Lee for FAFDM, but my GBU dvd has no extras...

How can be somebody SO COOL?  O0

Actually, Leone chose Wallach mainly from his role as Charlie Gant in How the West was Won (like his comedic ability, teased young soon-to-be Chip Douglas there), not from his role as Calvera in Magnificent Seven.  My guess would be "both".

Eli Wallach is just a great actor. I dunno if he's the coolest ever. I can name a handful who are cooler, but he can sure act his ass off.

Calvera is one of the best things in TMS. I heard Kurosawa liked the remake  :P
But Eli is better when he's not a villain, just... ugly.  ;D ;D ;D

Yeah, I don't buy the official line. It's impossible that SL didn't see M7; it's impossible that Calvera didn't influence the development of Tuco; that development, a collaboration between Wallach and Leone, occurred because the prototype was there for all to see.

You think you're better that I am?

I think that quote reflects Leone's style.

"Roll it up! Roll it up! I'll give you a good idea where you can put it!" - Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez
