I also think his work in "Casualties of War" is some of the best he's ever done, but it often doesn't come up.

I was going to mention this one also. I have the soundtrack CD. Good stuff. I thought the movie
was pretty good, also. I thought MJ Fox was perfect for the role.

Navajo Joe is one league lower.

What !?!  "La fine di Barbara, e il ritorno di Joe" is superb in that album. Sync that to any "build up to action" scene in any movie and it will make it better.

Been listening to different stuff lately.  Just kind of pulling it from the shelf.  I pulled the Disclosure soundtrack and have listened to it a few times in the last week.  I really liked the Serene Family, title track, when I saw the film for the first time.  Film itself is not very memorable.  The soundtrack has a bit more electric pieces I guess due to the film's subplot about computers and technology.  Some serious bass on some of the tracks as well.  The strings on Serene Family are just classic Morricone.  Anyone listen to this one often or really like it?

La Califfa, L Uccello dalle Piume di Cristallo, Metti Una Sera a Cena, Veruschka, and Orca.  I haven't seen any of these movies, but you really don't have to to appreciate the music.  Orca is supposedly a crappy Jaws rip off, but I can't get over how amazing the music is.  It's hard to imagine such amazing music written for a bad movie, but I suspect a lot of these movies aren't that great.

A few other scores of note from movies that I've actually seen are U-Turn, The Thing, and Days of Heaven.  By the way, Days of Heaven is just about the most beautiful movie I've seen, and Morricone's music is matches the films beauty perfectly.  It's a lot more subtle than his more famous scores.

Also, you guys should check out his rejected score for What Dreams May Come.  I strongly suspect that if it had been used, that movie would have a much better reputation.

Orca is supposedly a crappy Jaws rip off, but I can't get over how amazing the music is.  It's hard to imagine such amazing music written for a bad movie, but I suspect a lot of these movies aren't that great.

  Imagine it, my friend.    Really horrible movie, entertaining nonetheless, but the music from Morricone is maybe the only bright spot.  Even one of my faves, Richard Harris, seems to be lost here.

  If you can rent it or find it cheap, maybe less than $10, its worth it.  It's a bad movie, but it is entertaining.  Definitely qualifies as "It's so bad, it's good" type movies.  The music is excellent though and makes it worth watching.  It's never a good sign though when you're rooting for the Orca to win by the end.

 I watched Days of Heaven last night and it definitely qualifies as one of my new favorite lesser known Morricone scores.  I went into the movie not knowing Morricone did the score, but it was just another plus in a good movie.

Ennio's score for Battle of Algiers is poignant and heart-breaking, as well. I found a version of the main theme on Rhapsody and it pretty much drove me to tears.

I watched Buddy Goes West yesterday; and Shobary's right, the Colorado Slim theme is good. Especially because there's harmonica in it and I love the sound of harmonica.
