While the main theme is excellently arranged and executed I have always preferred the "throw away" tracks more.

Tracks like...

"Mystic and Severe" is a truly haunting piece of art.

"Guitar Nocturne" is a nice soothing track to.

But my favorite is the terrifying, and threatening, "Anger and Sorrow"

The lyrics to the latter seem to go something like...

"I have seen them killing all my friends evidently
I have seen them killing all my friends evidently
I have seen them without any pity for no one
I have seen them without any pity for no one"

More or less what I can make out as most of it is a lot of shrieking.

Lots of info about this in Hughes book FC. Wink

I love those chants too, written by Maurizio Attanasio heres some more:-

"He'll be coming down the mountain.
Who'll be the first seize his gun?
Who'll be the last to see the ground?
Who will put flowers on your graves?
The moment of truth comes."

As well as the great guitar driven rhythm i like all the avant garde touches like the screeching flutes, the repetative piano or guitar riffs and of course the Alessandroni choir. Afro

I could never make out the main theme. I always thought there were no lyrics, just vocals like in the Dollars Trilogy.

This and The Great Silence are my favorie of Ennio's Non-Leone Spaghetti scores.

The Great Silence is brilliant. I think it's one of the best score's ever. It jus fits the backdrop of that film perfectly.
