That spliced together film that used two Rawhide episodes and extra footage, compiled from two episodes of "Rawhide" (1959), "The Backshooter" and "Incident of the Running Man".

It was made by Jolly Films and issued under the title "Maledetto Gringo", or "The Magnificient Stranger".

Any of our Italian members know id this ever got actuially released?

Yes it was. I saw posters for it at two different theatres where it was going to be exhibited, but never watched it myself because I thought it was crap.

Still it would be nice to have this as archival material, an interesting extra bit of trivia, no?

Absolutely. But I don't think it was ever televised (i never saw it on a trade list) and I don't think it was ever released on vhs. Maybe a super 8. I never checked, I will.

I cannot recall having seen this movie.
It's just funny to see that Jolly Film is the very same company which produced "For a Fistful of Dollars" and at the time it was managed by a Mr. Papi and a Mr. Colombo, who according to Leone refused to pay Kurosawa US$ 10.000 to get the rights for Joymbo.
This refusal in the end cost them (and Leone) a lot more....
