The Horse Whisperer is not really a western film, same goes for Brokeback Mountain.
I wanted to add The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada being it's a favorite film of mine but it doesn't go with the other films here because it's set in present day.
Lone Star is more of a crime, mystery, and drama rather than a full blown western.

Thanks for the explanation TB.  Watching Seraphim Falls reminded me how important the horse was for people living in the West in the 1800s. There's a saying about a dog being a man's best friend - for them it was probably their horse.

Last I checked CJ doesn't think highly of The Quick and the Dead, which is at the top of my list.

I like The Quick and the Dead though. It's a great pop corn fun western which pays some homage to OUATITW which is pretty cool.

I agree, and I'm not knocking you for putting it on the top of your list. It's just cool seeing that because you don't see this film getting a lot of credit. I think it's a pretty damn cool western.

Hard to argue with CJ about Westerns. He knows a POS when he smells one.

That's your opinion. I do agree with CJ when it comes to some westerns but every one. There's been some great films he rips and I dunno what film he was watching.

Of course it's my opinion. I assumed you started this thread to solicit opinions. You were looking for objective facts, maybe?
