Anybody know WHO came up with the title GBU from the original Italian title?   Mickey Knox?  Sergio Donati?  Eastwood?  Van Cleef?  Wallach?  I think somewhere I read that Eastwood and/or Wallach were teasingly calling Van Cleef Angel Eyes, and they decided to use that (at least for the English version) instead of Sentenza.

You're NOT talking about changing the title from The Two Magnificent Tramps to BBC, right? You're talking about taking BBC and putting it into English and getting GBU, where "ugly" and "bad" become transposed? I'm not sure anyone has taken credit for the change, it's one of those things that just happens when translation occurs (a better flow and all that). I doubt you can track this one down and lay it at the foot of any person in particular . . .

I think that's what he meant. Even if it wasn't I'd like to know that.

According to Vincenzoni (reported by Frayling) the title came to him in a dream. He passed it on the SL and SL loved it. Perhaps Leone tried to take credit for it later, but it was certainly V's idea originally.
