Austrian-German W. 2014 must have been the if-you-don't-do-a-W-now-chances-are-you-never-will year.

I'll try to watch it tomorrow. Don't have any expectations.

This isn't really a W as the story takes place in the Alps, although connections do exist as the main character comes from America carrying revenge on his shoulders.

''Stranger from nowhere wonders into a secluded village seeking revenge'' is really more than enough, isn't it? You know, no matter how cleverly you try to outwit the story or charm the viewer visually or play with little subterfuge ideas, in the end, when the story you and everybody else knows already unfolds, you're gonna have about half an hour of action that won't fill all the holes now matter how good it is. - And it isn't.

Despite that, it is watchable.

Did you see the English-dubbed version, or the one in German with subtitles? If the latter, was Sam Riley's actual voice used, or was he dubbed by a German voice talent?

That's what you get, Drink, for being such an annoying Melville fanboy.

"Das finstere Tal" (2014) (The Dark Valley) An Alpen

Wow, this is Austro/German Alpen is as pretty close to a Spaghetti Western in look at least that I've seen in a long time, a sort of companion piece to the Great Silence check it out NOW streaming on Netflix! It doesn't have Morricone, or mythic dialogs but it's a fun watch.
