The film premiered last week and, surprisingly, received "shockingly good reviews" from critics in attendance. Not only that, but overwhelmingly positive audience reviews, and the release has been pushed forward to around Christmas:

This might actually be a good movie. I sure hope so, I'm really psyched about it now. O0

Isn't it kind of strange that a film relating to Adolph Hitler is going to be released at Christmas time? Don't you think that could kill the film at the box-office?

Not really. Who doesn't want to see people stand up to Hitler? Besides rr, of course. :P

I'm not sure I follow. It's not the like the film is endorsing Nazism.

The film has more to worry about being released in an extremely crowded field. Marley and Me, Bedtime Stories, Revolutionary Road are all coming out the same week, plus whatever other films are still running (The Day the Earth Stood Still for one). It's going to be very interesting to see how it turns out.

I'm just saying people will be in the Holiday, happy mood around Christmas. Some people are turned away from serious subject material such as this. I didn't mean it was endorsing Nazism.

are you saying a movie about an attempt on hitler's life is not a feel good holiday flick?

I think we need to re-evaluate who is and is not a fascist again  :D

;D I'm not saying I won't see this. I love history, and I love war films. This seems like a great war-related thriller. I'll love to see it.

I've noticed that you keep finding things to criticize about it though.

Fair enough, but there are an infinite amount of Hollywood films that do this. It's not exactly a new development either. How many epics and period films from the '30s-'60s had people speaking in modern American/British accents? Spartacus, Doctor Zhivago, Ben-Hur, Fall of the Roman Empire, Night of the Generals (which dealt with the same subject as this film)

That doesn't excuse it from looking ridiculous.

I might be seeing this, seeing as it seems like alot of my freinds want to see it for some reason (mostly because of hitler). Although im a little afraid seeing that i apparently ruined the movie for them.

I wonder how many other people think this ones gonna end on a positive note?

I'd say he's a pretty good choice for Hitler visually.

However, I'd also say Cruise was as well...
