Surprisingly (and it's the only surprise of the movie) Colorado is not the hero but a mexican (in Colorado!) bandit played by Lorenzon. The movie is run-of-the-mill pre Leone style, with many hints to High Noon in the character of the hero's wife who is a pacifist and won't let (until the end) his huisband use force depring him of his gun. The story deploys unimagitively until the end, when it borders (and sometimes steps with both feet) into the ridiculous and absurd. Lorenzon is the hea dof a gang of outlaws terrorizing the peaceful piece of country where the marshall is about to retire but, after having brought Lorenzon to jail and having retired he's sought for by the evaded bandit and challenged to a duel.
In the italian dubbing the hero Bill Carson (an inspiration for Leone?) is continually referred to as Weeld Bill: Italy wasn't yet colonized in those times. Or maybe this just gives you an idea of what kind of people is dabbling into movie-land.
(At IMDB they identify "barbara Hudson" as former Fellini actress Brunella Bovo: I'm not sure they're right. Also they say that Erika Blanc is playing a saloon singer: possible, but as she is never shot in close-ups is hard to confirm)
