Hey, can you believe they're advertising OUATITW like crazy on TV?  They're running ads for the DVD during football games even, which are very expensive spots.

All this for a 30 year old movie?  I don't recall a release of an old film on DVD being promoted like this before, they must have had huge advance sales and knew they were sitting on a big seller.

The rest of the world is discovering what us True Believers knew all along.

Hope this means they'll give the "good treatment" to the Dollars trilogy next!

I expect something next year from the Academy for Morricone, Eastwood, Wallach and the others survivors.
At least one half of today cinema get direct inspiration from Leone's movies.

Often imitated, never duplicated  8)

You never get the sense that you're watching an "old" movie when you watch a Leone film, do you?

Watched "The Searchers" on AMC last night, which is pretty cool to watch after being lost in the OATW zone this weekend.   Great movie, gorgeous cinematography.  There's a scene near the end of the movie, right before they attack Scar's encampment.  The camera has a long shot looking at the barren Monument Valley landscape at sunset, then slowly pans left and suddenly swings into a big tight profile closeup of The Duke doing a fake bird call to signal the attack.  Hmm, where have we seen that camera shot before?

But Searchers seems very dated in comparison to OUTW.  The films were  only made about 10 years apart I think, but they seem like completely different eras.
