I was told that the bank of Mesa Verde and the restaurant where Juan meet again with Sean/John Mallory were shot in Medinaceli Spain, a town about 150 Km north east of Madrid on autovia A2. Now, if you look at some pictures of the place (Plaza Mayor), the buildings are not there anymore (Plenty of shots On Google Earth ).
The question is, was it a set specially built for the need of the film or did Sergio Leone use old buildings which have been destroyed since that time ?

Both the bank and restaurant were built for the movie, as you've seen from the Google Earth pictures the buildings around the Plaza Mayor look pretty much unchanged but the two set building were removed, presumably after filming.

You can also see the Plaza Mayor in this Pepsi advert

This picture taken during a visit in 2006 shows the gap between buildings where Sean makes his exit.

There's a really good spaghetti location website that has a ton of pictures comparing what they looked like when the movie was filmed and what they look like now.  I know there's some good ones of the locations from Duck You Sucker.
