Did the Roman premiere include the final flashback in the first place?

to my knowledge yes.

Never had a problem with the flip screen swipe. It looks a bit cartoonish but so does the intro titles for tuco, blondie and angel eyes(or setenza)...

you know the ones that  show up on screen and go"the ugly"etc.....

The chicken scene does bother me a bit, but some may find it to be comical relief. I love animals and dont like the fact that it is there. In fact it is more disturbing then the scorpion killing in the "Wild Bunch" and the lizard killing in "gable hogue". The chicken head getting crushed by john(off screen of course) is a bit unsettling to me, but i dont think it should cut. especially since there is alot more disturbing things going on in the film such as the mass killing of people in the pits.

The way it is now its not needed, but supposedly it was all shown in shadows against a wall so the reveal would still have worked.

You think you're better that I am?

Not as bad as the scene where he strangles the chicken on the train, though. Now that is one scene that ought to be cut.

^ I agree with this, it doesn't blend in well with the rest of the scene where Mallory is trying to cheer a grieving Juan up, and it is here we see them becoming close friends. And then we see him kill the chicken which disrupts the tone or mood of that scene.
