So many great soundtracks, amongst my favourites areThe Thing-Morricone does electronic minimalism plus some REALLY claustrophobic orchestral cues, many not used in the film
There are 2 tracks where you can unmistakingly hear Carpenters Music. Humanity (Part II) (7:15) has Carpenter synthesizer keyboard based rhythm section running the length of the track. This is the music from the opening scenes. Its basicily 3 quarters Morricone, the last quarter when the loud organ type synthesizer solo kicks in, is Carpenter. (In trademark horror overdrive)Maybe there was a colaboration. I hope so. Even though the credits are given completely to Morrricone. There is the other track that sounds like its just Carpenter, i think it could be 'Wait' ?I think i need to listen to it again.
It was Untouchables and not The Mission? My mistake?Personnaly, I like The Untouchables score of course, but I don't think it's not one of Morricone's best score. I think between The Untouchables and The Last Emperor I would also choose Last Emperor. But, if The Mission wasn't competing against Last Emperor, who won the Oscar instead of The Mission that year? Anyone knows?
