I always loved the water sound with the train. I'm surprised nobody mentions it.

Apparently he did copy some sounds/rhythms from OUATITW and put them in the original SW trilogy, or at least that's what Leone himself claimed, according to Faryling.
i remember hearing from somewhere that Lucas spoke with Leone about editing film with music just prior to editing starwars. is that true or am i just hallucinating?

It sounds a lot like the heavy breathing of one Darth Vader. I wouldn't be shocked if Lucas stole the sound and altered it, not that I'm accusing anyone or anything. *Puts down torch*
