The First Cut is the Deepest  - Cat Stevens

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aBccr-aLu4I&feature=related

This version is better than Stewart's and (no need to add) Sheril Crow's. It is better arranged and better sung. Expecially the refrain, with the doubling of the voice, gives the relevance to the great poetic image of the title. To me this remains the author's best song.

Angel of the Morning - P.P. Arnold

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDLmfAkaXw4

I checked most of the versions at youtube and also Evie Sands' original. I think this is the best arranged and sung. Another notable one is this:

Of course as to looks this unknown to me singer is first, but she also sings the first verse and the refrain better than most. unfortunately she doesn't variate in the reprise so it doesn't get  first place.

Frank Sinatra - That's Life

Don't think I have a Sinatra obsession or anything ...with constant references and a Sinatra icon...I just have it stuck in my head.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Dig!!! Lazarus Dig!!! Has the Bible story of Lazarus ever sounded this good? I don't think so.

I'm going to see Cave and the B. Seeds in September with Cat Power and Spiritualized. Awesome.

Came on the radio this morning and for the first time I had noticed how profoundly sad it was...
