Wasn't ALL sounds added in post-production? Whoever added the clicking may not even have been morse-code-proficient.

In the commentary Frayling says it was meant to say that the train was gonna be late.

Agreed. It just seemed interesting that we might find a message that had been undiscovered for 40 years.

I understand completely. I wasn't trying to invalidate the quest for an answer. Assuming that it is a genuine message, can we even guess at what language it is supposed to be in? Perhaps the sound studio had a Polish guest worker who just happened to be the only one around proficient in morse code.

However, as it was added in post-production, the message could well be in Italian, rather than English. Has anyone contacted an Italian telegrapher?

The ideal would be to get in touch with someone who knows Morse code so well that he could translate it just by listening. Unfortunately, I don't think I know anyone who could do that Undecided And I don't know how many people still need to know Morse code like that... Sailors and pilots have to know it to certain extent, don't they?

To me, it was nothing more than a simple device to build atmosphere in the film's opening moments. I do have to admit that this thread is every bit as interesting as it is strange.

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre. What did you think of the script?

Afro Imagine if anyone involved with the making of this film visited this forum. I'm sure something along the lines of "Oh my god, these people are crazed fanatics" would be uttered. But topics like this, as odd as they may be, are one of the main reasons why I love posting here.
