That is indeed the long lost scene. Glorious ain't she??!
Makes me want to break out my old vhs copy!
It is quite beyond me why they cut out this essential part of the story and Indio's character.

yeah I have no idea why they cut the extra dialogue... perhaps the additional violence was too much for the American censors?
