This thread is for everything from rumored to officially announced up cming holywood remakes. given the current hollywood trend, i wouldn't hurt to have daily remnders of why modern hollywood is going down the gutters.

Red Dawn- heard a little snippet about it on Reelz channel
but the imdb page is empty. probaby some wild rumor.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1234719/

The Day the Eath stood still- more then official, a trailer is out and everything.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0970416/

The Dam Busters

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dambusters_%282008_film%29#Remake

Day of the Dead- already out, though i dont think it has anything to do with the original but a sequal to the dawn remake

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_the_Dead_%282008_film%29

Death Race because a name like death race 2000 would only seem dated  :D. coming august 22

The Fly no info

Shouldn't this be in the official remake of the remake thread?

I've also read articles at various points about proposed remakes of:

Robocop (haven't heard too much about this one
Footloose (Zac Efron, directed by the High School Musical guy, although it's apparently an adaptation of the stage musical rather than the original movie)
The Seven Samurai (George Clooney I believe. Still can't wrap my mind around this one, is it really a straight remake???)
My Fair Lady (Keira Knightley and Daniel Day-Lewis in talks)

It does appear that the remake of The Wild Bunch has fallen by the wayside, although there is an animated film with the same title coming out next year.

That's some of the best news I've heard in quite awhile. :)

It has nothing to do with the remake of Dawn of the Dead. Its a standalone movie.

Robocop (haven't heard too much about this one

Darren Aronofsky might be directing this one.

Fahrenheit 451 sounds interesting. I quite liked the Truffaut version.

The only way Evil Dead would interest me is if it's directed by Sam Raimi.

Both Birds and Seven Samurai are among the stupidest remake ideas ever.

Some say he already did (ED2), but some people are fucking stupid.

I don't understand what people are thinking with the birds, I'm sure they'll find a neat little package that will explain the mad birds (avian bird flu).

Seven Samurai, WITH GEORGE FRICKIN' CLOONEY! Honestly do they even KNOW what a samurai is!? much less where they come from. I'm sure Clooney will have about as dignifying portroyal of the japanese as Mickey Rooney in Breakfast at Tiffany's.

1. Was the original THAT popular?

2. They probably want to include more Pinhead this time.

3. If they must.

4. The fuck is this?

5. Why?

6. Calling Judd Apatow

7. Yikes!

8. If I'm not mistaken, this is still an ongoing series. C'mon! There are a few years left in Jennifer Tilly's bust!

9. Don't know what this is either.

10. Go right ahead.

11. Queen could always use more exposure I guess.

12. Bleh! Remake the third!

13. Couldn't care less either way.

14. This could work. The original had potential but it's just a bland effort.

15. Whatever

16. I hate anime. I'll skip this.

17. The original is bad enough.

18. Didn't they learn with Bewitched?

19. Without Robert Englund I don't see much point.

20. This I've been looking forward to for years. Been waiting nearly 6 years for it to get out of development limbo. I'm sure it will be a major dissappointment. O0

N.B: a film based an old TV show isn't really a remake to my way of thinking.

Ah, it's all the same basket.
