One of the greatest American films ever made. "Cool Hand Luke" doesn't have a thread dedicated here on the Leone Forums and I believe it should. It's such a great film to discuss. Paul Newman is electrifying as Luke Jackson here. George Kennedy is memorable in the supporting role which earned him an Academy Award. This film is a treasure and stands the test of time.

Brilliant is the perfect word to describe this film indeed.  Afro

I've watched it three times the past month or so. It's been on a lot.

I think it's time to watch "Cool Hand Luke" again. It's been one of the most watched films this year for me thus far.

I don't think it's among the best US films ever made but it's one of the most charming, definitely.

Hud, CHL and The Hustler are largely responsible for my interest in movies after seeing them years ago.

We lost one of the greats.

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre. What did you think of the script?

I'm surprised you're not crazy about "Cool Hand Luke" Tuco. mmmm. At least you like Paul Newman though.

I love CHL but I wouldn't rank it among the very best, more of a personal favorite for me.

Got you. I dunno if I rank it among my top ten American made films but it is a personal favorite of mine as well. Paul Newman's performance is just sensational and I also think George Kennedy is outstanding as well. He was awarded though for his effort by the Academy which was well deserving.

That wasn't meant to be an indictment on Luke, I just don't think it belongs on the short list of the greatest US movies of all time. I don't even know if I would rank it among the very best US films of the 60s. Again, I love the movie, it's absolutely fantastic.
