The System aka The Girl-Getters (1964) 7/10

Somehow the most unfunny people alive, the Brits, often manage to be so unintentionally funny ...

I'm getting dragged by friends even though I lost interest in the Marvel movies around Iron Man 3.

Wolf Hall (2015) 1080p - 10/10. Four out of 6 episodes. Terrific court-of-HenryVIII intrigue, from Thomas Cromwell's point of view. Dialogue, acting, costumes, locations: all marvelous. Sir Thomas More buys the farm in part 4 and there's still 2 episodes to go! ("Wolf Hall" was apparently Jane Seymour's family's estate). The photography in this is great and must be digital--the nighttime scenes actually look like night.

I saw it on the big screen in Missoula, Mt. wasn't impressed either.
The action sucks, but the dialogues are very trippy.

Lee Daniels' The Butler (2013) -  6.5/10

Honest but at times horribly predictable.

I've been hearing great things about this, thanks for the review.

Tycoon (1947) 6/10

With John Wayne and Laraine Day.
May of the shots in this Techicolor film are poorly matched. You could have one shot that is bright and the next shot that's dark. And this movie could have been 20 minutes shorter. Not that it woulda been great either way.

Johnny O'Clock (1947) 7/10

With Dick Powell, Evelyn Keyes, Lee J. Cobb, and Thomas Gomez.

I don't love Dick Powell as a noir guy. He isn't bad, but he's no Bogie or Mitchum. Then again, not many are.

RKO 281 - 6/10 - The making-of Citizen Kane, blandly dramatized.

The Madness of King George - 8/10 - 2nd viewing.

Raw Deal (1986) - 3/10

It is remarkably amateurish all around and dull as well, especially for a flick that's not supposed to be art anyway. It possesses no redeeming qualities what so ever; except - I think it should be shown to movie students as a prime example of what bad scripting, directing and editing (and acting) look like when mashed together. No wonder it was never shown on TV over here.

P.S. I thought Sam Wanamaker was actually Robert Loggia for 3/4 of the movie.

The Believers (1987) - 6/10

Yes this horror flick about murders and ritual sacrifices gets 6/10 on IMDb and it's probably a fair rating, but I wasn't all that bored till the end; when they fail to connect all the characters. It creeped me out back then, now it's not as exotic.  Ahey, there's Robert Loggia!

Hoosiers (1986) - 7.5/10

I remember being really harsh on this one, but a recent re-watch made me mellow. Originality of any sort left aside, it fares better as a (small town) community drama/herd mentality psychological study than an actual sports drama, with solid performances. I mean, I can't think of many people being interested in a basketball movie set in the early 1950's. That understood - the action isn't that bad either.
