I'll try one more time.

Keach leaves the police station and goes to a diner for a cup of coffee. Suddenly across from him is a man staring at him. Keach stares back, visibly shaken--we later learn the man in his dead father. A call comes through for Keach from the station. After hanging up and getting ready to leave he looks over at the spot where the man was--he's now gone. There is no flashback in this scene and the dead father's image was in the present.

This is not the only time the father appears in the present. For example, later when he is getting rough with Tyrell the father appears and causes Keach to break down and ask for forgiveness. Again, this is not a flashback.

Agree, there are flashbacks and there are hallucinations, I guess I misunderstood you, sorry.

It all though re: your initial complaint, doesn't detract from the story for me as a stand alone film.

Stalker (1980). Narrative takes a back seat to photography. But what photography. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGRDYpCmMcM

Heat (1995) - 4/10. Idiotic characters in an idiotic plot. But, hey, the new blu was only $8, so I guess I got value for money.

8 bucks too much, but even if it doesn't do that much for me, I like Heat more than you. About 6,5/10 for this likeable gangster movie.

The cattle report:
Al is terrible again, as mostly in his later films, and Bob is a pale shadow of what he once was, but comes across ok.

After Dick Tracy, he could play nothing but cartoons.

Probably true. That was maybe his last good role.

Yes, playing a cartoon was right up his alley at that point.

I think you put the wrong disc in the drive. This is the one with Pacino and De Niro Smiley

You prefer the one with Burt Reynolds?

HEAT is a damn good movie and Pacino delivers a damn good performance.

Season 3 is running right now on Netflix. The link with Breaking Bad is strengthening and the show is now alternating between episodes about Saul's family issues and thriller episodes about Mike/Breaking Bad. I suspect it's their way of doing "1 for the writers, 1 for the audience". Still very cool.

yes - maybe. Season 2 was pretty fucking good in a "can't wait for the next episodes / breaking bad" kind of way. But season 3... the depth. Build up of the plot so far, style & direction ... amazing

I'm rewatching all of the original Twin Peaks so I'll be a bit behind schedule on the new season, but then I'll have more to binge watch

I love it. The courtroom episode is arguably my favorite in the series so far.  Thankfully I as an audience loves both stories, but yeah, a slight preference to the Jimmy & Chuck material. I'm going nuts trying to figure out how Hector will end up in the wheelchair, or what will be the fate of Kim and Chuck once we reach the breaking bad timeline
