What would be your advice: IMAX 3D or regular flat? Flat IMAX virutally doesn't exist in Paris.
It doesn't seem to exist here anymore either. But as I said, the 3D on this film is pretty worthless. Just watch it in regular 2D.

Watched two diametrically opposed heist movies...

The Bank Job (2008): Jason Statham and Saffron Burrows plan a bank robbery, but Burrows has ulterior motives, that run deep into the highest circles of UK society. Good and tense thriller, which combines several real life events from the early 70s into one narrative (some of which still have their records sealed). Recommended. 8/10

The Last Heist (2016): A deposit box location is closing up shop, but are targetted by a group of robbers, who are after the contents of one box in particular. One of the people picking up their belongings that day tho, is serial killer Henry Rollins. I just had to watch this because of Rollins (he was one of the frontmen of legendary punk/hardcore band Black Flag) but otherwise... Take my advice, do not watch. Because of Rollins: 4/10

Don't Breathe (2016) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4160708/reference 7.5/10

Very good thriller that's packed with suspense and some genuine surprises. There's some annoying plot holes and the expected conventional genre tropes, but it's a tightly coiled spring that's fun to watch unwind. See it if you liked the claustrophobia of something like 10 Cloverfield Lane (2016)  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1179933/reference and the premise that made Wait Until Dark (1967) tick   http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062467/reference.

Lights Out (2016)  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4786282/reference 6.5/10. Scary for the most part, but the boo-jump premise gets a bit stale come the last third. Decent night in with the lights and phones turned off.

Cow Country (1953) - http://www.fistful-of-leone.com/forums/index.php?topic=13022.0 6.5/10

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Extended Cut (2016) - 2/10. Needed a Gal Gadot fix, and found this on blu for $13 at Target. I didn't bother with this when it was playing in theaters, and my instincts were correct. This is a 3-hour long steaming turd.

Run Silent Run Deep (1958) - 8/10. Classic men-on-a-mission submarine flick, now in 1080p! There are the usual problems: a bad-luck skipper (Clark Gable) out to redeem himself, no matter the cost; an XO (Burt Lancaster) miffed he's been passed over for command; a resentful crew (Jack Warden, Rudy Bond, Rickles, and a very slimy Brad Dexter). Then there are the wily Japs themselves, who have the gall to actually speak their own language. Action scenes are competently arranged (thank you, Robert Wise), making judicious use of Navy-approved drill footage and miniatures in water tanks. Gay subtext? Hey, what's a submarine except a long tube full of (heh, heh) seamen. Take it in the shorts, Tojo!

I just saw this movie; TCM recently showed a bunch of Clark Gable films. Very good movie. I also give this an 8/10

Seen in the plane. Actually, partly seen as I slept through some parts. 3/10

Also seen in the plane:

Split 4/10
Nothing worth seeing here.

Logan 6/10
Hey, cool action sequences.

13 Assassins (Miike) - 8/10

A nice, old-fashioned samurai movie that approached the genre with respect. Pretty damn epic final showdown.

Also, how long has it been since I was here? Finally found my old login. I missed this place.

The Man in Grey (1943). Good costume drama with James Mason at his evil best.

Framed (1975): Joe Don Baker kills a sheriff in self defense but gets sent to prison for murder, as everything that could help his case has vanished into thin air. After serving time he wants revenge but he's up against powerful opponents. Tough-as-nails movie, directed by Phil Karlson ('Kansas City Confidential', '99 River Street'). Recommended. 7+/10

I forgot what my login was, so it's been a few years.   ;D Luckily, I still use the same email.

I was recently struck with the western fever again, after some detours to Avatar (the good one, not the one with the blue thingies - and it even has a "western" episode) and Dragon Age (I made some mods).

I started working on an old story idea. Do we have a thread for those? I think there was one.
