The Pink Panther (1963) - 6/10
Slow and a bit oldfashioned but still rather entertaining. The whole first hour didn't offer much to laugh at but after that there were a few clever scenes.

What makes it that bad is the fact that big-assed stars are in the film and it's a waste. Had the actors been as second-rate as everything else it wouldn't have been a tragedy and I probably wouldn't have written a review and a negative rating!

I'm sorry Poggle but I don't think the film is as bad as your'e claiming. Sure, it may not be on par with some of Pacino and De Niro's past great films  but from what I'm hearing it has it's good moments.

That is the charm about cop films or films with a mystery: It's self-consciously a discovery process, which is always entertaining, but if it eventually leads to disappointment then everything else sinks with it. I won't say I was suffering throughout the film, but in a film leading up to an answer you're hoping it'll deliver regardless of what else makes you go "Hmm...", like the mediocre acting(which, in a film that isn't exactly The Godfather isn't always a problem, but when the film fails one could add it to the list of the negative aspects of the film with a feeling of added contempt. "It didn't help!"

A Song at Twilight - 9/10 - 1983 BBC television play with Deborah Kerr and Paul Scofield, based on a play by Noel Coward, about an aging writer whose ex-lover threatens to expose him as a homosexual. There's more to it than that, but that's the very basic plot description. Loads of fun, great acting by all concerned and a typically witty Coward script.

yeah, I've always had a problem with that last scene. Whether it's intentional or not, it ruins the mystery behind everything following up to it (is she or isn't she crazy? are they really witches?).

I think it was probably meant to be intentional, considering that most of the actors before that scene were just fine (and not overthetop). It's probably meant to show the normality of the cult, going along with the idea that you never really know who your neighbors really are.

Duel - Alas, still the best Spielberg to this day. 10\10 Very good bonus material with Matheson being interviewed extensively (!) and Spielberg explaining in detail (40 minutes) how he did do it. He says he couldn't do that nowadays in the 13 days it took him at the time. He's right.
He adds he couldn't have done, at the time, SPR or Schindler. Probably. But maybe he wouldn't have touched that material at all.
