Army of Darkness - 3/10
The humor may be unique but overall the movie was fucking dumb. Hated this.

American History X - 9/10

This Happy Breed - 7/10 - Not too bad, although as a wartime morale-booster (not really propaganda per se) it's rather preachy and complacent. I was really surprised this one was in color though, although I'm not 100% sure it was necessary. Ceilia Johnson is excellent here. The rest of the cast is pretty good but Johnson easily runs away with it.

I saw that a few years ago. I wasn't a big fan, although Robert Downey Jr. did a good very job. I think it shared the same problem as Attenborough's Gandhi, too many big stars in forgettable cameo appearances, and no one except for the lead really emerges as an interesting character (well, maybe Kevin Kline as Douglas Fairbanks). Gandhi is much better though.

Veronica Guerin (2003)

Great drama based on the true story of  irish journalist Veronica Guerin who exploits Ireland's drug-lords in 1996. Cate Blanchett is great as usual in the title role.

Blithe Spirit - 8/10 - Another great Lean film, a really good, very witty adaptation of a Noel Coward play. Will expound on this in my inevitable review later on. O0

The Thing (1982) -- 9/10.  Very interesting plot mixed with INCREDIBLE "Wtf?" effects = how horror movie should be.

This movie gives you enough suspense to get by, but still sucker punches you in the throat whenever it can.

The Cat People - 9/10 - Brilliant, wonderfully atmospheric horror film. One of the creepiest, most affective and suspenseful movies I've ever seen. This was our first film for our Intro to Film Genres class, and we actually had an in-depth discussion about it, debating over what genre it falls in (the six groups were equally divided between horror, melodrama and film noir). Anyway, great film.

I don't remember much about the plot even though it's been under a year since I watched it but I remember the great atmospehere. Weren't there some scenes in a garden? Those were creepy (if there were any, that is).
