They're obviously building the character, hence his promotion at the end of QoS.

The worst film and you wouldnt give it a 1? Eh?

Hoosiers - 8/10
A formulaic, insprational sports movie but just about as good as that particular kind of movie can get.

Army of Shadows (1969) - 10/10. Better every time I see it. The perfect marriage of Melville's gangster movies with his art films. Maybe this should actually get an "11" . . .

Summer Hours sounds interesting . . .
DVDBeaver thinks so too: http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film2/DVDReviews43/summer_hours.htm

But the Beev missed part of the point of the film, as the screen caps provided are only of the film's human characters. By way of redress, I'll just add a capture of one of the other "stars" of the piece:

Eraserhead - 7/10
Wtf?

Significant to me only for stirring memories of dreams that I had as a child.
And, as mentioned previously, the song sung by the lady in the radiator is tops.

I would give this a 6 out of 10 but Lynch is a nice guy.
So...

7/10

Max Payne - Some good idea in a plot mostly based on other movies (The Fugitive, preeminently) which could have been better were it not for the lead (this Wahlberg doesn't look like a hard-boiled cop) and some visuals. Still I give it a 7\10.

Odds Against Tomorrow 1959 supposedly one of the last of the Film Noir. Harry Belefonte, Robert Ryan, Ed Begley, Shelly Winters, Gloria Grahame. I enjoyed the NY locations of this flick, especially the town of Hudson filling in for the town of Melton, nothing much has changed there 49 years later. Story is not bad either only the ending which is lifted from White Heat.

The Godfather, Part III - 9 to 9.5/10
WTF?! I'll fight the next asshole that bashes this movie. Nearly as great as the original two. Arguably Pacino's best performance in the trilogy. Sophia Coppola's trainwreck of a performance is one of the only things wrong with this movie.

This is one of my favorite movies but it's no masterpiece. The White Heat rip is undeniable, for one. What I do love about it is Robert Wise's superb direction. OAT doesn't flow like an American movie, it has its own vibe entirely.

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre. What did you think of the script?
