That isn't playing anywhere near me and it wasn't playing in NC this past Thanksgiving weekend.

I'll actually be moving out to the sticks next week, Jenkins. Think before you speak.

It's my permanent residence for the time being when I'm not at school. Low-speed Internet and everything!

Does Miami count as the sticks?

Vertigo (1958) - 9.5/10
I didn't remember how beautiful the cinematography was!

Hope you saw it in the original mono. The '96 Foley is an abomination!

As for the rest, it's difficult to evaluate as it was subsequently repackaged as Star Trek.

How does that affect/effect the movie if it came out a full decade before Star Trek?

It doesn't affect the movie as such, but it affects my response to the movie, as I only ever saw it after I had completely absorbed ST:TOS. As I am incapable of an objective critique, I therefore wish to recuse myself.

The Card - 6/10 - Another Ealing film with Sir Alec as a mild-mannered clerk who worms and charms his way up the social ladder. Probably towards the bottom of my list of Ealings; Alec is fun and Valerie Hobson is lovely, but the film as a whole is not on the level of the others.

This is fair. It definitely gave me a Star Trek feeling as well, although I was also reminded of This Island Earth on more than one occasion...

This squares with my impression. I did like the falling-out Guinness has with the other woman (Glynnis Johns?) during the Brighton weekend sequence.

Suuri performanssi (2008) - 7.5/10
Tapio Piirainen's new (made-for-tv) movie about the strange world of contemporary art seen through the eyes of a mason. I was ready call this the best Finnish feature film of the year this far but I realised I had seen only two others. Though, there's only one other I have any interest to see. Hooray, Finnish cinema... Thank God we have Kuosmanen's Kaupunkilaisia, but it's short.

Changeling - Another tearjerker from Eastwood. I give it 2\10 only because of the performance of the actor playing the murderer, who manages to make the character not repulsive. The beginning of the main theme, composed by Eastwood, is stolen from Que reste-t-il.
