Well, the only flaw worth mentioning is the acting in general ...it's not bad, but not all that good. No main performance really sticks out as 'good' for me. The decent/sub-par rating is probably more from not bad things in the movie, but the lack of good things. There's just not really much to compliment in it overall, unlike the superior Coen movies.

So, basically you're conveying that you don't like extreme close ups of Chuck Taylors and The Four Tops?

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre..

Tropic Thunder - 7/10 - Started out pretty lame but gained momentum as it went along, and really came together at the end. Robert Downey Jr. had most of the funny bits ("I'm a lead farmer, muthafucker!"), but Nick Nolte and Tom Cruise deserve recognition for their parts as well. Best bit was probably the fake trailers at the beginning, or Downey's speech about "going full retard". Don't know if I'd watch it again, but it was worth my 100 minutes.

Raising Arizona - 7.5/10
Besides Lebowski, this is the Coen's best generally funny movie. Very original, unique, and weird. And Nicolas Cage was actually good for once! WTF?!

I found this hella boring.

LB is still their best comedy... and best film.

It helps to have a sense of humor (oh, right, right, just keep telling yourself you have one . . . ) >:D

I'm gonna take a guess here and say that "LB" stands for "Lebowski the Big"? >:D

Their best comedy? As opposed to what . . . their art films? ALL their films are comedies (with the possible exception of No Country). Again, to know this you'd have to have a sense of  . . .  >:D

Hey, FC, Happy Festivus! ;D

That's what you get, Drink, for not appreciating the genius of When You Read This Letter.

Scrooged - 5/10 - Lame modern update of A Christmas Carol. It is tolerable most of the way through, with some good laughs, thanks mostly to Bill Murray (and Carol Kane as Christmas Present), but the hopelessly trite and maudlin ending monologue ruins it for me. Pretty much every other version of A Christmas Carol I've seen is better than this (the 1984 George C. Scott version is my personal favorite).

Slumdog Millionaire - 9/10

I'm pretty sure with further viewings this film will only get better and better. O0

You'd count Intolerable Cruelty as funny?

Who is the one who needs their sense of humor checked again? >:D

Sorry, don't like RA. I don't like Nick Cage and that country bumpkin shtick gets old if you're past the age of liking Adam Sandler.
I like the Bounty Hunter though.

And yeah, I enjoy the Lebowski Of Big

Well all of their movies have humor, but the amount of humor varies. Of the nine I've seen the only two I'd consider comedies are Raising Arizona and The Big Lebowski. Blood Simple and No Country have pretty much no humor. All the others have pretty even amounts of humor/drama.

I still have to check out Barton Fink, Burn After Reading, The Ladykillers and Intolerable Cruelty. Not too enthusiastic about the latter two.

groggs, i know this is off topic but from what movie is that screenshot from?

ive been spending my winterbreak in mexico and was watching that movie with the family, apparantly its quite the holiday staple here, kinda like a mexican Santa Clause Conquers the martians but maybe even funnier (too bad theres no MST3k commentary on it  :( )
