There is, and it's great. Not sure how I'd compare it to Santa Claus Conquers the Martians - I might like that one more - but it's a classic in its own right, plus the funniest host segment song in MST3K history.

Sadly the Santa Claus episode isn't on DVD (to my knowledge anyway), but it is on YouTube if you really want to see it.

A Christmas Story - 9/10 - 6th viewing

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007) - 7.5/10
A slight drop from my original 8/10.

Fanny and Alexander (1982) - 8/10
I've seen the series version but I can't recall any scenes missing in this cut...

Helsinki, ikuisesti (2008) "Helsinki, forever" - 8/10
Peter von Bagh's documentary about the city of Helsinki. Composed of old film clips (documentary and fiction), paintings and photos. This is a both loving and cruel portray of the city but von Bagh can't avoid his usual pitfalls, overanalyzing and rambling.

The Dark Knight - 7/10 - 2nd viewing, my rating went down a star from the first viewing. Will elaborate on the appropriate thread.

The Blues Brothers (1980) - 9/10
Great Afro

Wallace and Gromit in 'A Matter of Loaf and Death' (2008) - 6.5/10
It missed something that the early movies had.

Valkyrie - 9/10 - I will elaborate in a bit in the appropriate thread in a little while. Suffice it to say for now that it greatly exceeded my expectations.

It's a Wonderful Life - 9/10

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - 6.5/10
I'm pretty disappointed with this, and how I feel about it is incredibly hard for me to describe. To start, I was pretty damn bored pretty much the whole time. The story was interesting, but it failed to captivate me. Each scene fails to connect to give the movie flow, it simply feels like 3 hours of random events in a man's life. The performances were good but the characters were always shallow and humorless. The movie is a consistant drama with no humor aside from the 'lightning bolt' scenes which got old after the first time. Overall it just feels so...empty. But in a way, although I was bored throughout the whole thing, I still found myself still able to like it. I can't seem to pick out anything good to say about Benjamin Button (besides good acting, good cinematography, good make-up...but that's the boring stuff), yet giving it a score any lower than a 6 wouldn't feel right. It's worth a viewing but only one - and I'd wait for the DVD.

I've hardly went to the theaters at all this year but I'd rank the 2008 releases as:

1) The Dark Knight (9.5/10)
2) The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (6.5/10)
3) Tropic Thunder (7/10)

Button is .5 lower than Tropic Thunder but overall more rewarding, and Thunder really lacked humor on the second viewing.

You know, I'm very leery about Benjamin Button, and your review-lette seems to confirm my suspicions/prejudices. The premise of the movie and the reviews I've heard have indicated that, regardless of what critics decide to masturbate over, it's not something I'd really care for. Cate Blanchett and Oscar hype are the only two reasons I might see it, but I still want to see Frost/Nixon and maybe Doubt first.

Slumdog Millionaire - 8/10
A bit too flashy and sort of a mess at the beginning but starts to come together as the film progresses. A very good, uniquely told modern love story. I don't think it will win many Oscars though, besides maybe Art Direction and Editing.  Oh, and it was a bit too similar to City of God at times. Really similar.

1) The Dark Knight (9.5/10)
2) Slumdog Millionaire (8/10)
3) The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (6.5/10)
4) Tropic Thunder (6.5/10)
