I WAS. What better way to celebrate the first movie star Prez than by going to the movies? But wasn't Reagan the first movie Prez? No more than Clinton was the first black Prez. Reagan was a retired actor when he started his political career; Obama is working at it full time. Will Smith won't be able to do him justice.

Lola Montes is end-of-the-line Ophuls. He revisits his earlier, better films, this time is 'scope and color. Unhappily, there doesn't seem to be much point to the exercise. The title character is vapid and uninteresting, and cannot be redeemed no matter the amount of eye candy thrown about. And it must be admitted that Ophuls' best work was done adapting (or mis-adapting) the works of others; it was a mistake for him to attempt a story off his own bat. Live and learn, eh? Except he did neither . . .

I completely agree but those circus scenes are nothing short of amazing.

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre. What did you think of the script?

All politicians are actors. They act like they care about THE PEOPLE. Obama ain't the first and he sure isn't the last. However, he is more of the first rock star president. Christ, I mean, he had his own Barackstock for inauguration.

Obama is a narcissistic prick, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Canyon Passage (1946) about a 6/10, outstanding scenery but basically a meller.

All politicians are actors.
Maybe. But Obama is the first one who's been any good at it. I'll go with the Rock Star idea as well. He's an artist who can successfully cross over.

Saboteur (1942) - 7/10

Broken Blossoms - 7/10 - First Griffith film. Very good and certainly interesting.
Certainly. But if my memory serves me correct, it's even better and more interesting than 7/10. But it's been at least two years since I saw it. I could watch it again but I don't feel like digging up my VCR.

These are films that i've seen last saturday

Valkyrie (2008)- 7.5/10
well made, keeps you interested even though you already know whats going to happen. Truth be told there were some points where i almost forgot Hitler makes it out ok. My main problem is that the film is a bit too speedily paced, which makes sense considering how the events unfold, but sacrifices good chances to make some tension which would have been more satisfying.

Milk (2008)- 7/10
reveiw in thread

Defiance (2009) 5/10
for a movie with a such an exciting subject this film is surprisingly dull. tiny insignificant skirmishes, followed by sulking and inner group fighting, followed by more skirmishes and repeat. I wasn't expecting much from the film but at least i could have gotten some entertainment, granted there was some humor sprinkled around here and there (at least thats something). and that ending battle, Blech! why did the nazi machine gunners think it was a good idea to place an mg to face its own troop? and the reds saving the day was just so expected.

Oooh, Obama has large crowds... so does Hitler--they must be the same!!! WATCH OUT AMERICA!

Obama is hardly the first candidate to run on "hope" and "change".

Yeah, a lot of the article is absurd but I agree with a bit of it.

I'm reading it right now. It's a pretty big giant joke... Obama's been chosen to be the 44th for a long time... he can sell a line and we will turn into a fascist country... blah, blah, blah, blah. What part do you agree with?
