Jim Jarmush directed it.

No, that's Coffee and Cigarettes. Cigarettes & Coffee is a completely different film.

Gran Torino - 8/10 - Finally got around to seeing this. I was a bit skeptical going in but it really impressed me. Clint was just great throughout, if nothing else he deserves credit for being able to poke fun at his age, but he gives a genuinely great performance. His exit was John Wayne-in-The-Shootist level awesome - the perfect way to go out, particularly if this is his last film role. The story was a bit cliche but it was done well so I don't really give a hoot - very little in Hollywood is that original anyway. The rest of the cast was tolerable; no Oscar-worthy performances but I disagree with the school of thought that everyone else sucked. An enjoyable movie and better than all of the Best Picture nominees but Slumdog.

^ Agreed with all of that except for that bit about Slumpdog.

It's perfect timing, large one...

I haven't posted here for quite some time :D but here's one film I want you to know about...

Rok ďábla (The Year of the Devil) - 9/10, although that rating's rather disputable, because it's so weird...
A Czech musical pseudo-documentary. With emphasis on pseudo, because it's actually really all acted (by non-actors, mostly the musicians in question). It is a fantastic story about some of the most famous - in CR - Czech folk musicians. Fantastic as in fantasy. The story is based on real people and some of it on real events, but you have to take everything with a pinch of salt - with much more than a pinch, actually.
The DVD I have has English (and other language) subtitles - with varied quality, admittedly - and lots of extra materials without English subtitles, which is a pity. Although, for example the "commentary" track could hardly be subtitled, because it's no usual commentary track. It's just like this: the director, some of the musicians and maybe somebody else from the crew watch the film on video, chat over it, drink something, smoke, mention somebody sleeping upstairs etc; and all of these sounds are recorded in the "commentary". Maybe this explains the attitude of everyone involved and its weirdness a bit.
And in spite of this sounding very unprofessional and indie, it is really a very quality film with a powerful, though weird, story, and good cinematography, not to mention good music.

Sorry, I don't know, mine came from a newsstand... but I'm sure it must be available somewhere on the internet.

Natural Born Killers (1994) - 4/10
Two hours of "The best of the rock video effects of the 90s" is more than enough for me. As a satire it's edgeless and not very original.

Stranger Than Paradise (1984) - 6.5/10
Second viewing.

Much cheaper here - but I have no idea how good or bad that place is. Anyway, it's obviously the same version I have, in a simple cardboard envelope.

Or watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDpHy2GW_ds
