I prefer some of those that quickly followed: Vivre sa vie, Le Mepris, Masculin/Feminin, Alphaville.

The glance that makes holes in the silver screen

Huh, I've never really cared much for this. Maybe if I'd seen it first when all those techniques seemed innovative I'd appreciate it more. But jump cutting and the rest have been with us for 50 years now and none of it seems particularly special anymore. Belmondo is good. Seberg I can't stand unless she's acting in Paint Your Wagon. The relative plotlessness isn't a problem, there are Wenders films I enjoy that have much less going on. And there are fun little bits, like Melville's cameo. But that's not enough for me and I can't quite put my finger on what it is about this flick that fills me with such apathy. Just one of those Mysteries of Cinema, I guess.
Although the technical side isn't anything new anymore I found myself liking the "free" atmosphere. And I think Seberg was unbelievably attractive and totally enjoyable.

I've seen all of those save for Alphaville, and I can't say that any had any impact for me whatsoever. I have a strong dislike for Godard, I suppose.

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre..

In The Valley Of Elah 8.5/10

Underrated, like everything by Haggis (except Walker :-\)

Mata Hari (1931) - 6/10
Even that could be generous.

Les amants (1958) "The Lovers" - 6.5/10
I like the ending but the romance scenes were more or less cliched.

I liked this a lot the first time I saw it (circa 82, 83). I thought considerably less of it when I saw it again in 1994. It's a bit too talky, and relies a lot on the star power of its actors, not entirely successfully,  to see it through. There just isn't enough plot for its long running time. But I'd give it at least a 7, I think.

El Método (2005) - 7.8/10

Very good European one. I quite enjoyed the talking and ''playish'' nature of this movie although I was very sceptical at first. On the tracks of the great ''12 Angry Men'' and very similar to ''Das Experiment''. O0

After giving it some thought I think the movie relies almost completely on Mastroianni. Keitel is totally wasted in his role.

Before the Revolution - 7/10 - Very entertaining and well-done for the most part, although some of Bertolucci's editing/zoom choices annoyed the crap out of me. And I have to add, Adriana Asti is fucking GORGEOUS!

I think she was cute in that early movie. In the '70's she was passable, though very attractive for italian male viewers because of her voice.

Planet Terror---uncut 6/10

Too long. The theatrical version is the perfect length for it.
Theatrical version gets a 8/10 from me.

A Season on the Brink (2002) - 6.5/10

Not as nearly as good let alone entertaining as other more known basketball flicks, but Brian Dennehy is absolutely brilliant.
