Foreign Correspondant - 7/10 - Lots of fun most of the way, a really underrated thriller very much in Hitchcock's usual vein, though it drags a bit down the stretch. Probably prefer it to The 39 Steps, at least on a first viewing. Lots of wit in the script, plus a great cast and some well-staged set pieces.

Night of the Living Dead (1990) - 8/10
It is better than the original.

Goebbels liked it too.

Casting Edmund Gwenn as an assassin was certainly inspired.

The faked assassination and ensuing chase scene early on was remarkably ahead of its time - it seemed like something out of a Bond film in its staging. Gwenn's cameo was certainly amusing, though dare I suggest the Nazis should have picked someone slightly more subtle?

In fact, the early Bond films drew on many of Hitchcock's set pieces, as Terrence Young freely admitted. You need only compare From Russia With Love to North By Northwest.

Well it's a lot more obvious with North By Northwest, if only because that was made just a few years prior to Dr. No.

Could've been if they hadn't screwed with the ending.
This is another one of those shot for shot remakes that cropped up a lot in the 90's.
