The Beach (2000) - 3/10

Just the kind of crap you'd suspect Leonardinho to be in.

He's been around longer than TWBB.

The Ipcress File - 3d viewing (one at a cinema, in the '70's). The Manchuriancandidatetreatment part has dated, (or maybe it always was) that's why I give it only 9\10.
Absolutely. Props for Nigel Green and Guy Doleman. And, of course, Harry Palmer himself.

I'll be getting this one on Blu-ray.

2) Whalestoe and I are the only members of the board owning either a brain or a heart.
We even have both.

I loved it too.
Have the dvd but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

Billion Dollar Brain -  For the first time I realized Donald Sutherland is in it, after watching the end credits (but I saw this at a cinema and on tv and never had the chance to rewind). My evaluation has been the same through the years. Good until the Texas part, then there's only the final scene in London. Malden is miscast: a scheming spy he can't be. Wonderful older Dorleac,  on spot Begley. Saltzman strangely didn't understand that what made these movies thick were not the James Bond gadgets but the dialogues and the constant table turning.  They probably spent the double of what they did for the former two movies combined, when they should have passed up on this Deighton's novel. Russell was probably the only one who  got  fun out of it all. 6\10

BDB is the last watchable flick in the Harry Palmer saga, it really should have been the last. I kinda agree about Malden, but Burt Kwouk definitely takes the ''biggest miscast in the series'' award (for BTB).

I blame Ken Russell for the BDB fiasco, and Saltzman for hiring him. It's also possible they could have done better with one of the other Deighton books, or by ignoring the story and use only the title (which is what they mostly did with Ipcress). As it is, I watch Ipcress and Funeral regularly, but Brain almost never.
