TWBB is to cinema as a 458 ft foul ball is to baseball.

I couldn't have put it better myself.

I take it that you are talking about The Great Silence. I watched it in Italian with Finnish subs. BTW, does anybody else think Kinski's voice is way gay?

Nooooo... He also doesn't wear a women coat... Nor... Nevermind. Cheesy

So in Italy being gay is the worst sin. Like: "Not only he kills people and gets pleasure and money from doing it...but he's also gay!" Personally I find a bounty hunting poofter rather silly.

Educating Rita - 2\10 because the actors manage to deliver, in spite of the mess they got into.

you're a bit harsh with that movie. It deserves at least 0.88, if not 0.91.

Maybe it deserves a 0.942, but I just wasn't in the right mood for it.

The Ballad of Cable Hogue - 7/10 - Finally got around to seeing this. The biggest assets are the gorgeous cinematography, the great screenplay and a fine cast (Robards is a bit hammy at times but he really shines in his scenes with Stella Stevens, and David Warner is wonderful). However, the story is really slight and the film moves at a snail's pace - the ending in particular goes on for way too long. Pleasant enough, but probably not that memorable.

Dirty Mary Crazy Larry (1974) - 7/10

Plotless car chase movie but highly exciting and entertaining. Good cast, witty title, solid directing.

''We're gonna make it!''

Yeah.

Tsotsi (2005) - 7.3/10

Solid drama about the squalid poverty-pits on the fringes of Johannesburg, with some good acting. I personally prefer the epic concept of Cidade de Deus, similar big hit about a group of young criminals from Rio de Janeiro, made a couple of years before. The story is probably hard to like. Nevertheless, far from being bad, well worth watching.

Nightbreed (1990) - 7/10
Some visionary things and cool monsters but I don't like the cliched "the one" plot.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) - 7/10
A pleasant surprise.

Kestomerkitsijšt (2007) "Roadmarkers" - 5/10
Juho Kuosmanen's diploma work, I think, and that's what it looks like. But, I really enjoyed his Kaupunkilaisia (2008). I think he's promising and can't wait for his feature debut.

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee (2007) - 6.5/10

Lolita - 6/10 - I've never read the novel and really I don't care. WAY too long; I don't see how there's enough material here to spread out over two and a half hours, and the movie drags like nobody's business. Well-directed by Kubrick but not terribly cinematic. James Mason was fabulous and he was reason alone to stick out the film's interminable 153 minutes. Shelley Winters was great although made a sadly early exit. Peter Sellers on the other hand is simply annoying and Sue Lyons grows more annoying as the film goes along. Glad I got through it at least once, though.
