Didja do the "stings" each time in unison with the soundtrack?

Dammit, I knew I forgot something...  Undecided

BORAT
TROPIC THUNDER

the two 'edgy' comedies from last year.

both have several hilarious scenes which make one accept the many unfunny ones.
TT coould have done without Jack Black completely and not missed him.
One of the rare send-ups of Hollywood politics/specific films that dont pander by doing the obvious thing (the way all those ____Movie parody films do).
I enjoyed spotting the scenes and dialog that specifcally reference films (eg APOCALYPSE NOW, PLATOON).
The dvd  gives us a treat in the form of a Herzog0-like making of doc!

best line of the film comes from Matthew McGonnehy : "I got you the Tivo"!
ahahahahahaha1

BORAT is best when exposing the yahoo mentality of parts of American society I.e. the rodeo promoter.
Ther Borat character himself is not that funny but when he puts himself in the right setting the results are a riot

Grand Torino 7/10 (in the plane, not the best conditions)
Breakfeast at Tiffanys 9/10 (minus one for the japonese guy, not even funny and who has nothing to do with the rest of the movie... he's not like that in the book. Appart from the disapearing of a particular character, the other changes from the book are important but good decisions... it was weird to see the movie less than 48 hours after having read the book)
Valkyries 6/10 - interesting and well done but appart from a couple scenes it's more a tv movie than a real movie.
No country for old men 9/10

So I'm not the only one who didn't like it. I admit I love Tombstone.  Afro

Vincere (2009) - Bellocchio's biopic about a former's Mussolini mistress (and wife?). Bellocchio had understood everything with his first 2 movies. I love them. This is good popular cinema with some very good images (just compare the lunatic asylum (a favourite theme of Bellocchio)  scenes with those in a crude Hollywood product like Changeling. Still compared to movies like I pugni in tasca and La Cina è vicina this is routine stuff. 7\10
