On further thought, I think so. He should have upped the sarcasm.

Claudia, we need you to appear in LOST COMMAND. It's gonna revolutionize the war genre. What did you think of the script?

I'm slightly embarrassed to say there wasn't a hint of sarcasm there.   Embarrassed

I actually enjoyed Chisum. It's not a great movie, it's just fun to watch. It did what it set out to do.

lets see...

Up - 7.5/10
Great animated tale, I prefer it to Wall-E. Story is a little flawed but other than that definitely a good movie.

Terminator Salvation - 4.5/10
Same old action formula except with a popular franchise title. BLAH! Decent action anyways.

On the Waterfront - 9/10
A long-time favorite of mine that I hadn't seen in a while. Brando is really damn good in this.

Heaven's Gate - 8/10
Flawed epic but gets too bad of a wrap. The pacing is bad, but I wasn't bored by the movie. In general, some scenes would be too short while others are too long - it needed more reorganizing than cutting down, I'd say. Kristofferson really wasn't too great either. Other than that it's a very good movie.

Taxi Driver
- 10/10
Well I haven't watched it yet but I'm seeing it in theater tonight so I figure I'd just post now as opposed to coming back here later.

Terminator Salvation - 2/10 - Drek of the highest order. An extra star for Arnold's "cameo".

Sleuth (1972) Caine is sometimes off register (in the scene on the staircase before he's shot), Olivier is impeccable, the screen performance of his I prefer. The plot is simpler of what I remembered it was the first time I saw it on TV in the late '80's. Still, in spite of the minor flaws, adding the Adams sets and the dialogues  to an interesting plot and a great performance make me give this a full 8\10.
I'll add that I don't have the guts to watch the Pinter version (which is only natural he took charge of, as the similarity to The Servant is undeniable. Actually I'd bet the author of Sleuth was inspired by the Pinter's-Losey's masterpiece.

I thought Kenneth Branagh did Sleuth (2007). Either way, the remake is awful. There's an extra homosexual angle that's thrown in that's just ridiculous. I think the filmmakers this time out were inspired by Deathtrap (1982).

The African Queen (1951) - 7.5/10
The story is rather simple so the movie counts on its two big stars. But strangely something is missing. Bogie is one of my all-time favorites and Hepburn is very enjoyable at her best, but here neither of them really shines and there isn't much chemistry between them. I must add that seeing both of them in color for the first time was also kinda strange. Overall this was a good movie but not as good as I expected it to be.

Not much narrative interest.

I felt largely the same about this movie. Good but not great, a passable waste of time but not much more than that. It doesn't help of course that I generally hate Kate Hepburn, too.
