I saw both 4 rooms and the hitchcock episode many many years ago. QT's story was basically a remake with QT dialogue yes?

Not really, more like an homage, but you can watch both episodes on YT and decide yourself.

Billy Budd - 8/10 - Only major flaw is that it's a bit too stagey and talky for my taste, but the great acting and script more than made up for it. Terence Stamp was fine but Robert Ryan and Peter Ustinov stole the show.

Soul Men (2008) - 5/10

Couple of funny situations.

Franklin and the Treasure of Turtle Lake - 9/10 - Any movie based on a dumb Canadian kid's cartoon show that features animated turtles being incinerated in a fire, Granny Turtle suffering from a terminal illness and the annoying snail sidekick almost getting eaten for lunch by falcon chicks is worth a look. Doesn't get a ten due to the awful animation though.

The Last Boyscout (1991) - 5/10

Cliched, but has its moments.

Letters From Iwo Jima - 7/10 - A bit better than the mediocre Flags of Our Fathers, but nothing great. Mostly worth watching for Ken Watanabe's very strong performance and some nice battle scenes. Some really powerful moments throughout, but a decent amount of cliche still manages to creep into the story.

Four Rooms (1995) - 3/10

3/4 idiotic and dull, but the final (QT's) room/story is very good.

The Rodriguez segment is usually the one that gets all the praise but I don't like that story either.
Too cutesy/Spy Kids type crap.
I like QT's segment a lot and love the Hitchcock original.

Yeah its not bad though you can tell that the movie was made by an American.  Is it just me or has Eastwood never directed a great movie (and a lot of lousy ones)?

The Japanese, of course, have their own much better films about the Pacific War. Kon Ichikawa's Fires On the Plain, set in the Philippines,  comes immediately to mind. The second film in Kobayashi's trilogy The Human Condition provides an interesting look at what conditions were like  for Japanese soldiers in China.

That's what you get, Drink, for not appreciating the genius of When You Read This Letter.

Seven- Great Crime/Horror movie. Gives off a creepy vibe in the city that always rains and barely sees the sun.

Sukiyaki Western Django-I thought was great. I dont see what the reviews mean by it not being funny or anything. Its not like Superbad funny but it has its moments.

The Hills Have Eyes 2-The sequal to the 2007 remake. The first one i could take seriously but this one is just too damn goofy to try to take seriously.

Unforgiven is great, and Gran Torino is pretty close. Otherwise I'd agree based on what I've seen.

Unforgiven is great, but Gran Torino is pretty far from that.

Groggy the wise! I'll read your reviews more often!
