This movie goes hand in hand with Night Moves, another boring picture overpraised at the time by professional critics for no apparent reason.
Both starring the Hack Man. Coincidence? I think not!

BTW I've never seen Antonioni's Blowup, which I understand is the inspiration for the Conversation.  Is it any good?
Yes and no (and btw, Blowup was in turn inspired by Rear Window). As a depiction of epistemological uncertainty, Blowup succeeds very well. Unhappily, Antonioni couldn't leave well enough alone and introduced, at the end, a metaphor so obvious as to be risible. Not only was this utterly unnecessary, it undercut the very project Antonioni had been advancing since L'Avventura: the elimination of intrusive literary elements from his cinema. This is the point that marks the beginning of his decline as an artist of the first rank.

Very interesting (as always), DJ.  The fact that Rear Window served as inspiration to both Blowup and the Conversation makes sense.   O0

District 9 - 7/10. Trans-species metamorphosis is utter b.s., but if you can let that go the film is very entertaining. The final confrontation goes on a little too long, though.

The Outsiders - decent period-piece from Coppola, good entertainment.

After Hours
- 10/10
I absolutely fucking adore this movie, I swear I love it more and more each time. Easily one of my top 25 or so favorite movies, I just don't understand the hate for it here. It's not only a perfectly paced, stylistic movie but just plain fun to watch. Also some great humor in there too. Documentaries aside, this may be one of my top 3 or 4 Scorsese movies.

I like it too especially for Rosanna Arquette and Teri Gar. But then I like "Desperately Seeking Susan" for Rosanna also.

Why?   ???

Because it's huge in every department, and as a whole.

A fantastic movie, a Sci-Fi classic, a milestone.

I would if I could find it somewhere. So far I wasn't so lucky. I had The Big Shave in my hands but didn't have the time to watch it...

The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp - 8/10 - Very good, perhaps not great. Gorgeous cinematography and art direction (and Deborah Kerr), fun story, though perhaps a bit too slow and talky for my taste.
