Doesn't the Stewart character turn out to be some kind of government agent? It just kicks the whole revenge angle in the head. And then the whole idea that ranchers would be running guns to the Indians--I always hate it when stories make characters operate contrary to interest.

Good point.

Not that I recall. I remember him being ex-Army but that's it.

As for your second complaint, this is explained a number of times in the film, I don't see why you'd have a problem with it. Maybe you should chill.

Fargo (1996) - (around) 7/10

Can't really say what was supposed to be so great in it, I couldn't find it... I probably missed Bruce Campbell.

Yesterday I watched Riding Shotgun 6.5-7/10 typical Randolf Scott 50's Western, Find A Place To Die 5-6/10 a Spaghetti Western, and another episode of Maverick 7/10 (the old TV show is available on Netflix on streaming video I recommend it) I enjoyed the Maverick the most.

The Steel Helmet a good Sam Fuller low budget war flick with some very cool scenes. 7/10

Rough Riders - 8/10 - Third viewing. The more times I watch it, the more I think its TV origins really hurt the film. The battle scenes are great with an admirably large scope, but they definitely lose something in the pan-scan format. Would be nice they could somehow letterbox it, that would be cool.

Yeah, I love this movie, especially the climax/battle. Fixed Bayonets is another great low budget Fuller war film set in an arctic setting.

Ken Cinema

Thank you.

Antichrist - 8/10

Don't care if there isn't much plot. This film is beautiful and disturbing.

A guilty pleasure I guess.

I Wake Up Screaming (1941) a proto Noir with Betty Grable ,Victorr Mature , Carole Landis    , Laird Cregar,    William Gargan,    Alan Mowbray,    Allyn Joslyn ,  and Elisha Cook Jr.  Great cinematography almost a template for Noir films to come. Title is a bit misleading though, lol. 7/10

Nothing "proto" about it--it was in production concurrently with The Maltese Falcon. But yeah, "template" is the word--ya think maybe the makers of Murder My Sweet might have seen this a couple-three times? And, okay, the title doesn't really sync up with the subject matter, but what the hey. It's probably the greatest noir title ever imagined. They had to use it first or let somebody else swoop in and grab it. I think they made the right call.

Joe, didja see the deleted scene with Betty Grable doing her number? Hilarious.

That's what you get, Drink, for not appreciating the genius of When You Read This Letter.
